We go to Lagartera Football Club twice a week, because football is our favourite sport. We play football there, and we train. We run, and pass the ball. The club has got three coaches, Rubén, Alejandro (Pataco) and Daniel. We wear blue and pink shirts and black shorts. The name of the club is Lagartera FS, or Lagartera Futbol Sala. Futbol Sala means Futsal in English. We play Futsal indoors, in our sports centre.
You can come to the club to learn how to play football. There are different categories for children of different ages, like chupetines, infantiles and prebenjamin. The club is for children who are between three years old and fourteen years old. Girls can play football too.
We use a lot of English words in Spanish football, like ”coach” (entrenador), ”referee” (arbitro) and ”hat trick” (tres goles seguidos). We also use the word córner (saque de esquina). ”Corner” has a special meaning in English for football. It also has a more common meaning in English of ”esquina”.
Some words are similar in English and Spanish, for example ”goal” in English means ”gol” in Spanish. Other words are different, for example, ”match” in English means ”partido” in Spanish.
The best football player in Spain is Andres Iniesta, and the best teams in Spain are Real Madrid, Atlético de Madrid (Atleti) and Barcelona (Barca). The best teams in the world are the three Spanish teams (Real, Atleti and Barca), and Manchester City from England, and Bayern München from Germany.
Some people say that ”Messi is the GOAT”. Other people say that ”Ronaldo is the GOAT”. ”Goat” in English means ”cabra” in Spanish, but ”GOAT” is different. It means ”the Greatest Of All Time”. Is Messi better than Ronaldo? What do you think?
